Cicada Radio hail from Kearny, NJ and bring a taste of the late ’90s/early ‘aughts’ indie scene to the mix. Citing influences such as At The Drive-In, Desaparecidos, and The Police, Cicada Radio seem to pick up right where these groups left off – perfectly evident on their debut EP Imposter and the trend continues with the gain turned way up on their latest release, No Fate But What We Make. They can be found around North Jersey and New Brunswick bringing their unique brand of rock to the new burgeoning Indie scene. They are perhaps best described in this clip from a review by United By Rocket Science:
“Cicada Radio remind me of many of my favorite bands from the 90′s underground music scene like Karate, Small Brown Bike and Knapsack, just to name a few…meaning the music is packed with emotion and impassioned vocals , yet retains an indie sensibility that keeps everything in control and mature sounding. I guess what I’m saying is that Cicada Radio remind me of many of the best bands from the 90′s who fell under the Emo flag, but thankfully didn’t fit the Emo mold that most people would associate with, and that is a very good thing.” -UnitedByRocketScience.blogspot.com
