Invisible Lines at Maxwell's

Hey guys, so let’s just say that I wandered down the wrong corridor right before Brick City, and just found my way back now. Yes, I know, I haven’t updated the site in like 3 months. Deal with it. Anyway, I’m back now, and Killing Horse is back online – and kicking things up a notch.

So I’m sure you’re all aware by now that we’ve lost Ben Franklin to the turmoils of bands breaking up. Though it makes my heart heavy still, I’m sure something good will come of it one day. But hey, just because they’re gone doesn’t mean they need be forgotten! Their debut CD, “Optimist” and the 7″ released on Killing Horse, “Urgency” are still available over in the store – and guess what? They’re on sale! So do yourself a favor and pick up a memento of this awesome bands while supplies last!

As it is with the circle of life, where there is death, there is often birth (?) – what I’m getting at is that Killing Horse Records is proud to announce that we are teaming up with The Nico Blues for the re-release of their acclaimed debut, “Blame the Boredom, Blame the Basements”. “But when can I get this super awesome CD with expanded artwork and lyrics?” – you may ask? Why you can get it at the KILLING HORSE RECORDS 2-YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!!!!! Yes, that’s right, it’s been just about 2 years now since Mike and I got the notion that we could actually run a business – and yet 2 years later we’re still plugging away. Anyway, the show is at Maxwell’s on January 6th, and I’m going to devote a separate post to that – you best be there!

More like Brick City Killing Horse Riot!!!!

It’s almost time! Are you excited? Cause I sure as hell am! We’re just three measly days away from the 1st Annual Brick City Sound Riot, and Killing Horse is so deep into this thing that, well… I’m just gonna stop there, because that analogy was about to take a real awkward turn. Anyway, things are gonna kick off at 8PM on Friday with our own Cicada Radio, who I hear are going to be opening the festival with a benediction – of ass-kicking power rock that is. Then, as if that wasn’t enough to get your butts out to the show, Secret Country is gonna be bringing things home with their signature alcohol-drenched, yet utterly delightful, hooks and harmonies as Friday night’s headliner.

So for those of you who haven’t taken notice (probably everyone) Killing Horse Records has more or less taken over the greater New York area. For starters, Secret Country will be taking to seas for their 3rd annual Rocks Off Boat Cruise, with open act, and friend, Lenny Lashley. It departs tonight from the marina at 23rd and FDR. The boat begins boarding at 7PM and departs at 8PM promptly!

Alright, so the word has been out on this already, and I’ve been posting the Brick City Bios as quickly as Rockertycoon can churn them out, but it is now official. The full lineup and set times have been announced for the inaugural Brick City Sound Riot, featuring all five Killing Horse Records bands – Secret Country, Invisible Lines, Ben Franklin, ¡No Pasaran!, and Cicada Radio!
